TITAN

Carol took Titan home
following our 2007 Sheltie Social... a match made in Heaven.
Carol has a special calling in her heart for the older shelties... she gave
sweet
Shelby his final home this year (see
shelby's page), as well as the energetic Nick.
Carol is a true giver.

11/07- Seems more than 5 weeks ago that Titan and I made the drive over the
mountain and through the woods to his new forever home. When we left
Ann's he stood up in the back of the car and looked at her through the back
glass until we pulled out on Barnes Road -- brought tears to my eyes and I'm
sure to hers. What she could not see was that as soon as we were out
of the driveway he settled down and slept the whole way to Chattanooga.
As with Shelby before him, Titan has charmed everyone he's
come in contact with at the vet's, my daughter, everyone. When I took
him in to see Dr. Laura to get meds, etc. arranged for, she found a small
lump that bothered her on top of the really huge lipoma he has on his left
side so she removed it the following week. Thank God, it,
too, was a lipoma. He healed really well and when we went back to get
his sutures out, she said he looked younger and brighter every time she saw
him. And that he was such a sweetheart, no problem at all.
So, I have settled in with my old/young dog who has only the known
arthritis in his elbows to deal with and that is going quite well. He
and I have arthritis in common and I even share my ultram with him
on cold days when my knees hurt more than usual. Dr. Laura said he could have
25 mg. so I take a whole pill and he gets half! The two of us going
for a walk in the morning for a potty break must be a real sight -- both of
us gray, moving slowly and with difficulty, but obviously happy to be
together.
The first day Titan was out with Nick, I saw
Titan put his head over Nick's back and stand there to see if he was going
to be challenged. All my sweet, wild Nick did was look at him as if
to say, "I don't care if you're head honcho", and that was the end
of that. What they both forget is that Chloe is really in charge!
The boys are now playing "tug of war" with some toy every morning
and being happy for the company -- really quite good together.

This old dog has charmed me completely, and my daughter
as well. She'll sit and look at him and say "he' really cute; just
look at that face", etc. Titan can't hear a word but, I swear,
absorbs it all by osmosis. He gives me kisses, stays very near me most
of the time, and makes my heart overflow when I look at him and realize that
he was almost done away with. I am grateful to the special dog
angels who sent the nice lady who saw him at that awful pound and called Ann.
The rest, as they say, is history.
We look forward to a lot of years together -- me and my sweet, old, deaf,
arthritic, bowlegged Angel Dog.
He is a gift to me and helped my heart to mend. I am grateful.
