Abby

Just thought you would like to know that Abby is adjusting well and this is
only week 2. She now jumps up on me, twirls around and makes a few
squeaky noises. She hasn't barked yet so I'm assuming there is nothing
to bark about. :)
When she is in backyard she will run to me if she hears the neighbor's dogs
bark. I am out in the yard with her. She is eating well. She
gets a dog t-bone when she goes into her crate at night. Boy, she loves
those. She leaps inside and then looks at me as though to say "hey
lady, where's that treat!". She is leary around the cats and won't
come to me (yet) if there is a cat between her and me.
I have put up a child gate between the kitchen and back door to garage just
as a precaution although Abby prefers to lie under the coffee table the livingroom
if I'm not here. She sticks her head around from the TV area to
see who is coming in the door and wags her tail when I speak to her.
So, you can tell we are making good progress. I did take her on leash
to the mail box in front of the house and she was a little skitterish but the
next day was better so I'm still introducing her to things a little at
a time. She is unsure how to play. I have some balls but she just
watches them roll away. The only toy she tore up (and that's ok) was a
"cat mouse". Funny! She has started to chew a little on
a stuffed toy when I play with her and it. She checks on me if I'm in
different parts of the house and sometimes just lays down beside my chair.
I hope other folks will adopt and enjoy their new friend like I am enjoying
mine. Thank you for doing the wonderful work you are doing to give these
dogs another chance on life.
